Nonprofit Human Services Underwriter - Remote Opportunity

Position Overview

As a Nonprofit Human Services Underwriter, you will be responsible for analyzing, appraising and assessing exposures and acceptable risks for our Nonprofit Human Service Organizations, Education Institutions and Religious Organizations to determine coverage's and premium that are both adequate and competitive. Accounts vary in size, but may include accounts up to $1,000,000 in written premium.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver profitable outcomes on less complex niche business through effective risk selection by analyzing, selecting and profitably pricing business with prescriptive terms and conditions of coverage.
• Examine inspection reports, location, risk, financial and other available tools and reports to identify new or unresolved concerns.
• Communicate with Risk Control for inspections, follow ups and service needs for insureds.
• Drive corrective action or remediation strategies on renewal accounts.
• Escalate referrals, in a timely manner, on accounts that need additional review or approval by higher level underwriters.
• Adhere to service expectations and regulatory compliance by the timely release of renewals, non-renewals and conditional notices.
• Achieve key performance indicators of the portfolio through regular portfolio review calls, meeting voice of the customer guidelines, and maintaining limited travel to distribution partner offices.
• Develop and further successful relationships with distribution partners by coordinating pipeline building, resolving issues or conflicts, and overseeing change management.
• Communicate regularly with portfolio team members on the health of assigned agencies and market conditions that could impact the portfolio.
• Cultivate a high performing culture while delivering superior customer service and demonstrating strong business acumen.
• Mentor support staff throughout their career development, conduct peer audits, and approve underwriting decisions (LOAs) for lower authority levels.
• Assist in the training of new hires and internal promotions by providing continuous mentoring and feedback.
• Review, mentor, and approve referrals for lower authority level associates.
• Perform other related work as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience in commercial lines underwriting.
• Excellent communication skills, both in writing and verbal.
• Ability to analyze and make decisions in a timely manner.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in underwriting nonprofit human services and/or education accounts.
• Working to obtain or already possesses CPCU or another industry equivalent.

Compensation

• $66,300 - $110,500commensurate with experience, plus bonus eligibility
• $72,900 - $121,500commensurate with experience in CA, CT, MA, NJ, NY, and PA, plus bonus eligibility
