Job Description

Position Overview

Ramp is a financial operations platform designed to save companies time and money. As a Design-Engineer at Ramp, you will empower our design and engineering teams to deliver outstanding, consistent user experiences across all products and platforms. In this ground-floor opportunity, you will help evolve our design system, develop internal tooling, and bridge the gap between design and engineering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Help maintain and evolve the design and development of Ramp’s cross-platform design system
  • Contribute to the design and user experience for our core product by evolving the design process through documentation and guidelines
  • Work directly with product, engineering, and design teams to develop and implement tooling focused on quality and speed
  • Champion the user experience and accessibility of our products, ensuring a high quality bar
  • Advocate for our users by continuously iterating and evolving core products and experiences
  • Collaborate with designers to evolve our long-term product vision, design systems, and internal collaboration processes
  • Collaborate with engineers to create elegant and consistent component APIs with a focus on developer experience
  • Participate in daily team rituals such as design critiques, story creation, and stand-ups
  • Assist in hiring exceptional talent to grow the team and drive diverse perspectives

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of tech/startup or digital product agency experience, or equivalent
  • Strong understanding of Product Design software (preferably Figma)
  • Extraordinary visual design skills with a solid grasp of UX and UI principles and a background in visual/interaction design
  • Excellent front-end development skills in semantic HTML, CSS (up-to-date on latest features), and JavaScript (with frameworks, preferably React)
  • Experience maintaining a reusable component library and sweating the design details in code
  • Strong organizational skills and a passion for documentation
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills bridging design and engineering

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to articulate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical peers
  • Solid understanding of accessibility development practices
