Position Overview
Recognized as the home to best-in-class storytellers – including Nobel Prize laureates and widely read authors such as Barack and Michelle Obama, John Grisham, Margaret Atwood, Ibram Kendi, and George R.R. Martin – Penguin Random House is seeking a highly organized and creative Library Marketing Assistant. You will work across adult imprints and our children’s audio imprint, learning the full spectrum of library marketing: from enewsletter creation and blog upkeep to developing digital/printed assets and supporting trade shows and events. This hybrid role requires working from the office two days per week at our location (1745 Broadway in the tri-state area: NJ, CT, & PA). Compensation: $51,000 base salary with eligibility for an annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with enewsletter creation, blog content, and blog upkeep
- Coordinate all department mailings and award submissions
- Participate in planning and support of trade shows, events, and book buzzes
- Provide administrative support by creating PowerPoint presentations, Excel grids, handling book and supply orders, and preparing weekly meeting agendas
- Maintain the department email inbox
- Work on special projects as needed
Required Qualifications
- Avid reader with a curious mindset and an eye on industry trends
- Strong interest in advocating for libraries and building relationships with both readers and librarians
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present to an audience
- Outstanding organizational skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Proactive with strong follow-up skills
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically for three or more trade shows per year
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs of books and supplies
- Active working knowledge of social media with an interest in current book trends
- Knowledge of Canva is a plus
