The Environmental Engineer/Scientist position at Haley & Aldrich is an entry-level role focused on conducting environmental fieldwork and data analysis. The successful candidate will work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to address complex environmental challenges, ensuring compliance with health and safety protocols while contributing to various projects for a diverse clientele. Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine data collection, synthesis, and analysis using approved procedures appropriate for their discipline.
  • Perform environmental site investigation and associated field work.
  • Perform and observe construction remediation field work.
  • Perform groundwater and temperature monitoring and soil and water sampling.
  • Assist with pilot testing.
  • Assist in identifying technical issues and approaches for evaluation.
  • Review and apply applicable regulations as appropriate.
  • Conduct site reconnaissance.
  • Document project-related activities.
  • Assist project engineers with environmental data analyses.
  • Troubleshoot and deal with problems in remote locations.
  • Perform all work in accordance with company and client Health & Safety protocols.
  • Contribute to development of technical approaches to problem-solving.
  • Assist with the development of technical scopes of work and cost estimating for proposal efforts on small- to medium-sized project opportunities.
  • Observe and document field investigations and/or foundation and earthwork-related construction activities on a periodic basis.
  • Take ownership for task completion and be resourceful with solutions and proactive with questions.
  • Willingness to travel to support project work.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology, or related field.
  • OSHA 40 hour HAZWOPER and MSHA Certifications preferred.
  • Relevant work experience a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong computer literacy skills including proficiency in industry standard PC-based software.
  • Establishes and maintains membership in one professional society or technical organization in their discipline or primary area of technical interest.
  • Has or applies for initial professional certification in their core discipline, where applicable, such as EIT, FE, GIT or Equiv.
