In Kansas City, Honeywell Federal Manufacturing & Technologies (FM&T) manages and operates the U.S. Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration’s (NNSA) Kansas City National Security Campus. Summary
The Mechanical Engineer III will contribute their expertise in manufacturing engineering or quality engineering to a multi-functional team implementing Smart Factory initiatives at the Kansas City National Security Campus. The primary focus on this role will be to implement and deploy SPC software and control charts throughout the factory to improve quality management.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs and coordinates design, development, evaluation, analysis, and/or quality control functions on advanced and complex engineering projects; and develops solutions to technical problems specifically assigned or as they arise by applying advanced mathematical, physical science, and engineering technologies.
- Assesses process and equipment capabilities and establishes statistical software controls.
- Specifies, initiates, and coordinates acquisition of manufacturing resources and techniques.
- Independently determines and develops approach to software solutions.
Skills and experience should include:
- Manufacturing or Process Engineering experience in a production environment
- Quality Engineering experience collecting production data
- Experience with Statistical Process Control and statistical analysis
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
You Must Have
- Bachelor of Science degree: from an ABET accredited program in Engineering or Physics
- 4 or more years of relevant experience in engineering, analytical, or related technical activities
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
- Ability to work hybrid, or on-site as directed by management and is determined by the needs of the business
- United States Citizenship
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job
- Ability to obtain and maintain, if required for position, a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance (some positions require additional DOE designations)
Additional qualifications that the ideal candidate would possess:
- MS in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution
- Demonstrated application of advanced design, development, evaluation, and quality control techniques to complex engineering projects.
- Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and working under with minimal supervision, with latitude for independent action and decision making.
- Demonstrated analytical skills, proficient with computer software applications, and the ability to produce and consume written documentation
- Proficiency in gathering requirements from end users, developing a plan to meet those requirements, creating a custom software solution based on that plan, and iterating to incorporate any additional user feedback.
- Experience with SPC and Quality Management software such as Minitab or InfinityQS ProFicient
- Experience with relational databases and database management.
- Experience troubleshooting technical issues and providing customer support.
- Experience and comfort teaching other engineers about Statistical Process Control and its application to manufacturing.
- Experience with software development is also a plus, but not a requirement.
