As an Accounts Payable Associate with the Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation Department, you will work directly with the Business Office performing general accounting functions such as daily deposit reconciliations for over 30 recreation facilities, processing refunds, and data entry of deposit tickets and cash receipts. Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement daily operational tasks for assigned specialized accounting functions, including handling grants administration and general fiscal work for division accounting functions.
  • Establish effective working relationships with internal and external parties, providing information and assistance regarding program policies and procedures.
  • Receive and process financial documents, ensuring accuracy and completeness with appropriate account codes and vendor numbers.
  • Enter information into automated financial systems and submit for processing.
  • Prepare and process invoices, receipts for incoming payments, and ensure accurate coding of all transactions.
  • Accept and post payments, issue receipts, and monitor accounting activities against established budgets or projections.
  • Prepare reports including grant summaries, budget deviation reports, revenue and expenditure reports.
  • Maintain accounting information within automated systems, performing data entry and document retrieval for reports.
  • Reconcile accounting transactions, bank statements, and the general ledger for assigned accounts.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of two (2) years of accounting or administrative experience in a related role.
  • Associate’s Degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver’s License and County Driving Privileges.
  • Proficient in various computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of general accounting policies and procedures.
