Position Overview
This posting is for a potential upcoming opening for a Remote Customer Service Representative 1 (Pennsylvania and Ohio) role at Columbia Gas, a NiSource company. In this role, you will respond to customer telephone inquiries related to billing, service orders, and emergency situations. Key Responsibilities
- Process billing calls and investigate meter read and other billing accuracy or payment inquiries.
- Handle emergency calls.
- Manage customer move-ins, additions, and transfers.
- Process refunds, compensation requests, and account changes.
- Route escalated customer issues for resolution.
- Make referrals and process requests for special programs such as Energy Assistance, CRISIS, or Dollar Energy.
- Initiate service orders and provide service order status updates.
- Assist customers with credit/payment arrangements.
- Direct customers to appropriate self-service channels.
- Meet individual deadlines, metrics, and team goals while effectively prioritizing issues.
- Collaborate with team members in a group environment to achieve common objectives.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One (1) year of customer service experience.
- Computer skills, including navigating multiple tabs, windows, and systems.
- Ability to type a minimum of 25 words per minute.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills.
- For bilingual candidates: strong written skills in English and Spanish and fluent speaking ability in both languages.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2-3 years of call center and/or customer service experience.
- 2-5 years of previous customer service work-from-home experience.
- Experience in the utility industry.
- Advanced computer skills with efficient navigation through multiple applications.
- Ability to type 60-65 words per minute.
Benefits & Perks
- Starting Pay:$21.00 per hour for Traditional CSR or $22.20 per hour for Bilingual CSR, plus an additional one-time$500 sign-on bonus.
- Salary Range:$34,400.00 - $48,200.00 annually, based on skills, experience, and internal pay equity.
- Training:Participation in a 13-week training program with a focus on excellence and professionalism.
