Job Description

Position Overview

This role is responsible for the design and development of custom transformers, inductors, and filter elements, supporting our customers from concept through prototype builds. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate directly with customers on design requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design new transformers, inductors, and magnetic filter elements that meet customer electrical, thermal, safety, and mechanical requirements.
  • Review specifications of AC-DC and DC-DC circuits (buck-boost, flyback, half-bridge, full-bridge, PFC, LLC topologies).
  • Apply magnetic design equations to determine flux density, turns, core loss, inductance, wire resistance, temperature rise, and leakage inductance.
  • Create complete design specifications, including datasheets, BOMs, and construction guidelines.
  • Communicate with customers on technical design matters and provide timely updates.
  • Supervise prototype and first article builds, ensuring accuracy and quality.
  • Support production with testing and troubleshooting.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (required).
  • Minimum 2 years' experience designing high-frequency magnetic components (transformers, inductors, common mode chokes, current sensing components).
  • Familiarity with small signal testing of magnetic components (inductance, capacitance, DCR, hypot, turns ratio, phasing).
  • Ability to travel for customer meetings and trade shows.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
  • Experience with Ansys finite element software.
  • Knowledge of network analyzer testing in MHz range.
  • Experience with load testing of high-frequency magnetic components.
  • Strong background in managing customer engineer relationships.
