Job Description

Position Overview

Our Sales Manager will be responsible for overseeing the development, coordination and direction of profitable sales within a specified region. Duties include acting as the leader of your territory by managing a team of sales professionals, implementing and fostering corporate initiatives, maintaining supplier relationships and growing Veritiv’s customer base. This position requires a “take the wheel” approach for the entire sales process along with strong skills for intelligence gathering, prospecting, negotiating and account management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a team of high performers who grow business through new account acquisition and expanding share of wallet.
  • Implement sales and marketing strategies which will contribute to achieving the Territory and Regional objectives.
  • Conduct sales meetings, trainings, and account/pipeline reviews on a regular basis with the sales group.
  • Set appropriate performance objectives for team members and hold them accountable for achieving these.
  • Identify opportunities and present solutions offered by the organization that meet the customer’s needs.
  • Create a personal network and represent the organization at business sector events to enhance the company brand.
  • Work with the organization to ensure team members maintain up-to-date customer and inventory data in the CRM and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Manage and report on team performance, assets (inventory), and budget execution.
  • Partner with the Credit Manager to ensure accounts receivable are kept current.
  • Maintain and renew a deep knowledge of the organization’s policies and procedures to ensure compliance with required standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Must have strong leadership and management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, work under pressure, and adapt to sudden changes in the work environment.
  • Excellent verbal, written, people, and diplomacy skills.
  • Good interpersonal and conflict management skills.
  • 30% travel requirement.
  • Experience managing a team of 5-10 direct reports.
  • 1-3 years of successful supervisory/management experience and 3-5 years of related job experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience and knowledge in Packaging, Facility Solutions, or a similar industry.
  • Territory sales or account management experience.
  • Strong understanding or experience in a large, national or decentralized distribution organization.
  • Experience with Salesforce.com or another CRM.
