Job Description
Position Overview
This position builds, maintains and repairs various types of electrical, pneumatic and mechanical equipment. The role requires routine checks of equipment and troubleshooting failures as they occur. The ideal candidate will be able to calculate system requirements and communicate effectively through clear written and verbal reports.
Key Responsibilities
- Generally maintains, repairs, tests and inspects a wide variety of equipment common to regulators, odorizers and telemetric systems.
- Monitors vaults and recording locations, repairs leaks, pumps water and replaces defective parts where required.
- Installs telemetric and recording gauges at various locations within the system, including scheduled changes of charts and batteries.
- Prepares various daily, periodic or occasional reports on work performed and the condition or status of equipment.
- Inspects, sets, refills, installs and adjusts odorizers; may compute flow rates and evaluate odorant consumption.
- Performs shutdowns of various stations and equipment, coordinating efforts with construction, maintenance, and system control teams.
- Responsible for maintaining proper truck stock, work materials, tools and supplies.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent with a technical academic background, including courses in Physics and Algebra.
- Certification: Valid Class E or chauffeur’s driver’s license.
- Must pass the validated work test applicable to this position.
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license with appropriate classifications.
- Physically fit, sound and capable of performing heavy manual labor.
- Able to read mechanical or electrical blueprints and sketches.
- Proficient in using a wide variety of hand and automatic tools required for installing and servicing equipment.
- Must pass medical clearance for respirator use and consistently wear PPE when required.
