Mechanical Engineer, Senior Dam Neck, VA

Position Overview

WR has an opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Engineer in support of our NAVSEA P&EDM contract. The candidate will be responsible for the design and documentation of mechanical and electromechanical components and systems, as well as supporting fabrication and integration efforts. Applicants must have an Active Secret Clearance to start and be available for approximately 5-10% travel.

Key Responsibilities

• Document and design mechanical and electromechanical components and systems.
• Develop complete drawing packages (Level-3 drawings, block diagrams, Bills of Materials [BOM], manufacturing, assembly, modeling, renderings, and installation) using Autodesk Inventor 3D.
• Independently analyze specifications and performance requirements to ensure designs are manufacturable with existing methods.
• Determine the feasibility of new or modified components, considering cost, space, timeline, planning, and other technical or economic factors.
• Research and analyze data such as customer design proposals, specifications, and manuals to assess design or application feasibility.
• Create detailed technical drawings and documentation packages based on extensive engineering experience.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Ten (10)+ years of full-time professional experience as a Mechanical Engineer in the design, development, production, or testing of electronic, electromechanical, and/or hydro-electronic equipment.
• Experience performing thermal analysis of components and conducting Environmental Qualification Testing (EQT) in accordance with Military Standard procedures.
• Proficiency with CAD software (AutoCAD and Inventor preferred), including strong skills in 3D modeling, BOM generation, and cost/quality assessment.
