In this role, you’ll merge hands-on care with administrative precision to make a real difference. Location: 6800 France Avenue South Suite 300, Edina, MN 55435.
Key Responsibilities
- Interview patients to obtain comprehensive medical histories, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
- Prepare clinical charts and conduct Medical Opinion (IMO) research prior to appointments.
- Update and maintain medical records and billing reports while adhering to privacy regulations.
- Prepare and sanitize exam rooms and medical instruments to ensure a safe environment.
- Escort and guide claimants to examination rooms, assisting with their needs during visits.
- Send all ordered diagnostics to appropriate facilities for timely processing of test samples and results.
- Obtain and record vital signs—including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and weight—using proper equipment.
- Collaborate with the Supervisor to ensure smooth clinic operations and adherence to schedules.
- Perform blood drawings to collect specimens for diagnostic purposes.
- Conduct Electrocardiograms (EKG), Pulmonary Function Tests (PFT), and Ankle Brachial Index (ABI) as directed.
- Assist with prescreening visitors and manage check-in/check-out procedures via the Patient Scheduling (PracticeSuite) system.
- Comply with Infection Control policies and maintain general housekeeping protocols.
- Operate office equipment including fax machines, printers, scanners, copiers, and phones.
- Assist in inventory management and supply ordering.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
Required Qualifications
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effective patient and team interactions.
- Strong organizational skills to manage medical records, appointments, and administrative tasks efficiently.
- Proficiency in medical procedures—including phlebotomy, EKGs, and PFTs—with proficiency in phlebotomy being mandatory.
- Keen attention to detail in recording medical histories and vital signs.
- Solid knowledge of medical terminology and the ability to follow healthcare provider instructions.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and juggle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Commitment to privacy regulations and ethical standards for patient confidentiality.
- Minimum typing speed of 45 to 60 WPM.
- Strong familiarity with Office 365.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, and move for extended periods, along with manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Capability to lift and carry medical supplies and equipment, and sufficient visual acuity to monitor patient vitals.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Medical Assistant or in a healthcare setting.
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or relevant certification.
