Position Overview

Hospital Housekeeping Attendant - FT - Night Shift

Compensation: Hourly Range: $18.44 - $23.78

This role involves performing a variety of maintenance and cleaning duties at the Erie County Medical Center Corporation. The incumbent is responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness and sanitation in patient rooms and public areas, helping to minimize the spread of infection while operating under the supervision of a higher-ranking hospital employee.

Key Responsibilities

  • Vacuum, sweep, mop, and buff offices, corridors, stairwells, walls, furniture, and equipment.
  • Utilize extension poles, ladders, and scaffolds for cleaning walls, ceilings, light fixtures, and changing drapes or cubicle curtains.
  • Shampoo and replace rugs as needed.
  • Clean patient rooms with a high degree of cleanliness to minimize infection spread.
  • Collect and transport linens to laundry and return them to the designated areas.
  • Gather and dispose of refuse as directed.
  • Clean public and patient bathrooms including scouring sinks, mopping floors, disinfecting toilets, and replenishing supplies.
  • Move furniture and equipment as needed to complete cleaning tasks.
  • Maintain supply rooms for housekeeping throughout the facility.
  • Operate various manual and mechanical equipment for cleaning purposes.
  • Perform specialized housekeeping activities in areas such as trauma, intensive care, cardiac care, and emergency rooms, ensuring sterile conditions.
  • Clean and maintain areas with scientific apparatus, laboratory supplies, experimental projects, and animal facilities.
  • Clean isolated rooms and properly dispose of contaminated equipment and materials.

Required Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of various cleaning substances and the ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Physical capability to stand, stoop, bend, and stretch for long periods while performing cleaning duties.
  • Dependability, thoroughness, and the ability to work under direct supervision.
  • Ability to perform light to moderately heavy physical labor.
  • Ability to read and understand the English language.
