Position Overview
City of Hope Orange County is transforming cancer treatment by bringing world-class expertise and specialized care closer to home. Located on an 11‐acre academic cancer campus in Irvine, our facility houses the City of Hope Orange County Lennar Foundation Cancer Center, an outpatient cancer center, and Orange County’s only cancer specialty hospital – delivering a full continuum of advanced cancer care from prevention through survivorship.
The Hematology unit provides comprehensive care for patients with hematologic malignancies – including leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma – and specializes in managing patients undergoing CAR T therapy and clinical research trials. This is a full-time position with 12-hour shifts (3 shifts per week), designated for the night shift. Schedule: Full-time, 12-hour night shifts (3 shifts/week). Compensation: Eligible for a night shift differential up to $6.50/hr and weekend differential up to $15.60/hr. Location: Irvine, CA.
Key Responsibilities
- Patient Assessment and Monitoring: Conduct thorough assessments including physical exams, review of medical history, and monitoring of vital signs, laboratory results, and treatment responses.
- Chemotherapy Administration: Administer chemotherapy and other systemic treatments in accordance with established protocols, ensuring accurate dosing and monitoring for side effects.
- Symptom Management: Assess and manage symptoms such as pain, nausea, anemia, and neutropenia using appropriate interventions and supportive care measures.
- Patient Education: Educate patients and their families about diagnoses, treatment options, side effects, and self-care techniques to enhance treatment adherence and quality of life.
- Care Coordination: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans, coordinate appointments, diagnostic tests, and consultations with specialists.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s degree in Nursing is required
- Requirements: Current California RN license
- Experience Required: Minimum of three (3) years related experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR Card through the American Heart Association
Preferred Qualifications
- Preferred experience in Oncology, Hematology, Intensive Care (ICU), and Step Down (SDU)
