Position Overview

General Mills, Inc. manufactures some of the most beloved foods in the world—from Cheerios and Lucky Charms to Nature Valley granola bars and Totino's pizza rolls. As a Production Machine Operator in Milwaukee, WI, you will support production packaging, processing operations, sanitation, and the startup, changeover, and shutdown of equipment. You can expect varied work schedules including 2nd Shift (3:00 PM – 11:00 PM), 12‐Hour Night Crew (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), and 3rd Shift (11:00 PM – 7:00 AM), with overtime opportunities and flexible shift patterns.

Compensation: $27.39 per hour starting, with potential for up to $29.40 per hour through our skill program.

  • Diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical or operational issues, and partnering with maintenance staff to resolve them effectively.
  • Addressing operational issues in a timely manner and communicating results to team leadership.
  • Coordinating and performing basic preventative maintenance with a focus on defect identification and breakdown elimination.
  • Removing and replacing motors, starters, belts, bearings, chains, and other manufacturing parts as needed.
  • Entering Work Orders for any defects identified and performing centerline checks each shift.
  • Calibrating processing and packaging systems daily to meet required specifications.
  • Participating in the startup, changeover, and shutdown of operating equipment.
  • Assisting other packaging machine operators to set up machines, change film, and troubleshoot issues.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a manufacturing/production environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks (standing, walking, climbing, bending, pushing, pulling, and twisting) for extended periods.
  • Capability to work at heights using stairs, ladders, or lifts, while adhering to safety and grooming requirements in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Willingness to work in varying environmental conditions (hot, cold, noisy, dusty, wet) and around industrial high-speed machinery.
