In this role, the Biomedical Technician Apprentice will respond to service calls to evaluate, diagnose, perform repair and planned maintenance (PM) on basic biomedical equipment while driving customer satisfaction through Service Excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, evaluate basic customer biomedical equipment issues, implement appropriate repairs, perform planned maintenance (PM), safety and environmental inspections, and maintain effective customer relations following GEHC policies and hospital protocols.
- Maintain daily communication with customers to ensure resolution and proper follow-up while supporting GEHC/customer facility contracts and business goals.
- Assist experienced technicians with progressive repairs and resolution as a member of the local team to ensure efficient service delivery within the assigned area.
- Document all repair actions, submit reports/summaries according to schedule, maintain approved parts inventory, and manage vendor service delivery processes in compliance with GEHC policies.
- Ensure proper care, calibration of spares, tools, and test equipment, and enhance technical knowledge of current standards, codes, and procedures regarding safe and effective use of medical equipment.
- Meet Health and Human Services, as well as Environment Health and Safety requirements, and complete all planned Quality and Compliance training within defined deadlines.
- Identify and report any customer quality or compliance concerns immediately and comply with the GEHC Quality Manual, Quality Management System, and applicable laws and regulations.
Required Qualifications
- AS, BS, or MS degree, military education, certificate program, current student (with less than 12 months from completion and a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale) OR High School Diploma/GED with 6 months of experience servicing electronic, IT, or mechanical equipment.
- Previous experience and/or coursework demonstrating the ability to interpret schematic diagrams and perform troubleshooting and planned maintenance on diagnostic imaging or electronic equipment.
- Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. (no visa sponsorship available for this position).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience interpreting schematic diagrams and performing effective repair and planned maintenance on basic biomedical or electronic equipment.
- Ability to develop and maintain strong customer relations.
- Strong analytical and communication skills with the ability to convey technical issues in an easy-to-understand manner.
- Experience collaborating with internal team members and external customers in a solutions-based service environment.
- Experience diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electromechanical, and/or electronic equipment, with knowledge of electronic digital circuitry and electro-mechanical devices.
- Process-oriented mindset and ability to act as a change agent.
- Physical ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 35 lbs unassisted; ability to frequently bend, stoop, twist, climb, crouch/squat, kneel/crawl, sit, and stand for extended periods; and meet specific vision and dexterity requirements.
- Local candidates are strongly preferred; relocation beyond 30 miles without manager approval is not permitted.
- The successful applicant must pass GEHC’s standard background check, including a post-offer drug test, and comply with customer access and immunization policies where applicable.
Benefits & Perks
- Compensation:For U.S. based positions, the pay range is $40,000 - $60,000, with compensation decisions based on skills, qualifications, experience, and location. This position may also be eligible for performance-based incentive compensation, including cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
