Job Description

Position Overview

The primary responsibility of the Central Plant Engineer is to operate and maintain property machinery, HVAC, and mechanical equipment property-wide. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and The Venetian Resort’s policies, practices, and procedures. This is a safety related-position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain domestic water system, chilled water supply system, complete heating and ventilation, and high- and low-pressure chillers with associated equipment.
  • Operate and maintain centrifugal and multi-stage pumps up to 500hp.
  • Operate and maintain cooling towers and all associated equipment.
  • Manage open and closed loop water treatment and biocide control systems.
  • Maintain boilers and high-pressure steam systems.
  • Operate and maintain diesel generators, switchgear, and fuel transfer systems.
  • Troubleshoot complex maintenance problems and develop creative solutions.
  • Perform maintenance duties as necessary.
  • Research and evaluate new maintenance products and procedures; order supplies as needed.
  • Safety and consistent attendance are essential functions of this job.
  • Uphold company standards of conduct by ensuring professional behavior in line with The Venetian Resort guidelines.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Proof of authorization/eligibility to work in the United States.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Nevada Driver’s License and any other required certifications or licenses.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical, plumbing, air conditioning, and heating appliances.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, hand tools, electrical, refrigeration, air conditioning, and heating equipment.
  • Possess personal computer and data entry skills.
  • Ability to handle supplies safely while maintaining proper hygiene, cleanliness, and disposal methods.
  • Excellent communication skills in spoken and written English.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective interaction with guests and team members.
  • Must be able to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able to lift or carry 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Ability to physically access all areas of the property and drive as needed.
  • Capable of maintaining composure under pressure and meeting deadlines.
  • Ability for prolonged periods of walking, standing, stretching, bending, and kneeling.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and indoors under varying conditions (e.g., noise, dust, and smoke).
