Position Overview

This position will perform research and development activities related to the O&M Products & Healthcare Services Portfolio. You will lead R&D activities on small to medium-sized projects and support senior engineers or work with Project Managers on larger programs. Responsibilities include product design and development, cost savings and sustaining engineering activities – defining product requirements, prototyping concepts, developing manufacturable designs, and testing products to meet defined specifications. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams including Product Managers, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Procurement, and Manufacturing Engineers, with a focus on Medical, Consumer, Cleanroom, and Industrial Gloves portfolios.

Compensation: $100,000 per yr. The actual compensation offered may vary based on job related factors such as experience, skills, education and location.

Key Responsibilities

  • Typically works as a contributor to projects of all types or leads small to medium projects of lower complexity.
  • Works independently with low to mid level of guidance from more senior engineers and management, completing basic to moderately complex engineering tasks with some oversight.
  • Understands a wide range of technical principles, theories and techniques applied to design and manufacturing; incorporates leading-edge thinking into projects and plans.
  • Deals with change and ambiguity on projects by proposing options that result in potential solutions.
  • Makes technical decisions with little to moderate assistance and seeks appropriate guidance from senior team members when needed.
  • Understands customer requirements and works to ensure that expectations are met or exceeded.
  • May provide guidance and work direction to lower level engineers, and coach peers within R&D or supervise/lead technicians, co-ops, or interns.
  • Documents work appropriately within defined procedures.
  • Generates and analyzes test data and reports to determine if designs meet functional and performance specifications.
  • Learns about intellectual property and documents intellectual property according to established company procedures.
  • Develops effective schedules in collaboration with cross-functional teams and management, making independent decisions and obtaining buy-in as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: BS in Engineering or Science Related Field with 2+ years of relevant experience OR MS in Engineering with 0+ years OR PhD in Engineering with 0+ years
  • Strong project management, analytical, and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with a diverse group of teammates.
  • Basic understanding of statistical analysis tools and/or software.
  • Previous industry experience in development or change management of class I or II medical devices.
  • Familiarity with Quality System Regulations (Design Control and Process Validation) compliant with the FDA and other regulatory agencies.
  • Previous experience resolving technical issues and implementing solutions.
  • Capability to lead and manage projects of small to medium scope.
  • Ability to interface effectively with healthcare professionals and medical device customers.
  • Willingness and ability to travel both domestically and internationally up to 20% (must be able to obtain a passport).
