Staff Software Engineer, Core Services & Resilience (Backend Full Stack)

Position Overview

Viam is the engineering platform for robotics and automation, empowering developers, startups, and enterprises to build, deploy, and scale—from prototype to production. Our platform makes robotics development accessible to software engineers, removing traditional barriers to building production-grade automation. We’re also pioneering surface finishing automation for marine manufacturing.

Position: Staff Software Engineer, Core Services & Resilience (Backend Full Stack)

Location: NYC-based team (Hybrid 3+ days a week in office)

Key Responsibilities

• Architect and scale cloud services and distributed systems that form the foundation of the Viam platform.
• Lead architectural decisions, build business-critical features, and mentor junior engineers.
• Drive the development of core product features including scheduling (distributed cron), robot logs, billing, and triggers.
• Build and maintain internal tools and services that expedite feature deployment across teams.
• Support user authentication and access management flows for the Viam application.
