Job Description

Position Overview

At World Wide Technology (WWT), as a Sr. Engineer - Database Administrator you will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and performance optimization of enterprise database systems. You will serve as the technical point of contact for customers, ensuring high availability, data integrity, and security while applying industry best practices. This role supports both internal operations and customer-facing services at a global technology solutions leader that has been recognized for its world-class culture.

Compensation: A reasonable estimate of the current base pay range for this position is $120,000 to $135,000 annually. Actual salary will be determined based on factors such as shift, location, experience, and qualifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • End-to-End Monitoring: Oversee database platforms for performance and availability
  • Incident Resolution: Troubleshoot complex functional and technical issues across applications
  • Documentation: Maintain technical documentation for systems and procedures
  • Project Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams to design and implement database solutions
  • Vendor Relations: Establish and maintain productive relationships with technology vendors
  • Performance Monitoring: Identify and troubleshoot problem areas as needed
  • Strategic Input: Provide technical direction and contribute to long-term planning for database infrastructure

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Electrical Engineering or a related field preferred, or a combination of education, training and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • A minimum of 2 years’ progressive experience in a related field
  • Oracle Database 12c+: Strong hands-on experience
  • Security Management: Enforce database access controls and encryption standards
  • Backup & Recovery: Implement robust disaster recovery strategies
  • Working technical knowledge of technology practices
  • Strong knowledge in designing, implementing, migrating and troubleshooting databases
  • Certifications at Professional or Expert level preferred
  • Knowledge or experience with multiple technology disciplines is a plus
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills with the ability to work in a collaborative environment
  • Ability to conduct research into issues and products as required
  • Highly self-motivated and detail oriented
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a high-pressure environment
  • Strong customer service orientation with proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment focused on delivering customer delight
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time
