Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate mechanical aspects of commercial or institutional projects
  • Perform routine mechanical engineering assignments requiring application of standard techniques and procedures
  • Write and edit mechanical specifications, and select mechanical systems and devices
  • Utilize engineering software to develop HVAC loads, energy analysis and size/select mechanical equipment
  • Prepare construction documents for HVAC and plumbing design of buildings, including drawings, specifications and reports
  • Assist in the development, production, and issuance of BIM documentation using the necessary Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software
  • Work independently on small projects and/or assist more-senior engineers on larger projects
  • Supervise work of Mechanical CAD Technicians and coordinate design of assigned projects with architectural staff and other engineering disciplines
  • Take responsibility for construction contract administration including shop drawing review, request for information (RFI) review, field inspections, and conflict resolution
  • Perform other duties as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Trane TRACE or similar software, and equipment selection software)
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Architectural Engineering with Mechanical emphasis
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate
  • Healthcare, Science and Technology and/or Civic facilities experience
  • Revit experience is required
  • Previous HVAC experience
  • Experience and/or interest in sustainable design/LEED desired but not required
  • Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm
  • Strong communication skills, self-motivated, organized, detail oriented, flexible, and able to work both independently and within a project team
  • Teachable with a willingness to be mentored by senior-level mechanical engineers
  • Local candidates preferred

Candidates hired without their EIT will have the title of "Mechanical Designer" and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression.
