Job Description

Position Overview

The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation is seeking an Information Technology Manager II for its Enterprise Information Services at the EIS HQ/BIS in Rancho Cordova, Sacramento County. Reporting to the Deputy Director, this role has overall responsibility for supporting the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution for the Business Information System (BIS) Program. You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders—including the Executive Steering Committee, control agencies, and contractors—to manage risk, identify new business needs, and drive system enhancements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage, direct, and oversee the ongoing support of the ERP solution for the BIS Program.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership, internal teams, and external partners to negotiate new initiatives and secure necessary resources.
  • Supervise staff in the design, development, testing, implementation, and maintenance of software systems.
  • Mitigate risks and ensure compliance with enterprise software development and maintenance standards.
  • Oversee communication and coordination with stakeholders through the Human Resources Technology System (HRTS) process.

Required Qualifications

  • Possession of the Minimum Qualifications as outlined in the Class Specification, including relevant education and experience.
  • Must reside in California upon appointment and have a valid email address for ongoing communication.
  • Experience managing ERP systems and enterprise applications in complex organizational environments.
  • Familiarity with the HRTS process and the ability to complete required application submissions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of proven experience leading cross-functional IT teams and managing large-scale enterprise application portfolios.
  • Certifications such as PMP or Agile/Scrum and strong project/program management skills.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships, contract negotiations, and cross-departmental initiatives.
  • Expertise in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, PeopleSoft) along with familiarity with cloud-based and SaaS solutions.
  • Understanding of system integration, data migration, DevOps practices, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong communication skills for executive-level reporting and stakeholder engagement.
