Position Overview
Location: Remote (US-based) | Part-Time Opportunity
Akupara Games is a video game publisher that collaborates with developers and partners worldwide. In partnership with an established law firm for major and complex contracts, we are seeking a Junior Game Lawyer (Legal Assistant) to serve as an internal legal resource. The successful candidate will handle low-level contracts, coordinate with our law firm, maintain legal templates, and assist with various legal tasks.
Compensation: $18-25/hr
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and maintain standard agreements (e.g., NDAs, contractor agreements, licensing agreements).
- Act as a liaison between Akupara Games and our external law firm for contract escalations and legal inquiries.
- Maintain and update legal templates to reflect current business needs and industry best practices.
- Provide basic legal research and guidance on industry matters such as IP rights, publishing terms, compliance, and contract obligations.
- Assist with corporate compliance, documentation, and internal policy updates.
- Review and track contract deadlines, renewals, and deliverables to ensure smooth execution.
- Support cross-functional teams by explaining legal concepts and risks in an accessible way.
Required Qualifications
- 0-2 years of legal experience (internship or work in entertainment, media, or gaming law is a plus).
- Bachelor’s degree in legal studies, business law, or a related field; paralegal certification or JD is preferred but not required.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills for tracking contracts and deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey legal concepts to non-legal teams.
- Ability to work independently and proactively in a fast-paced environment.
- A strong interest in video games.
