Lead Data Scientist

Position Overview

We are seeking experienced Lead Data Scientist and Sr Data Scientist professionals with 15+ to 18+ years of experience. In this role you will support leading clients including Virtusa and Elevance Health, working cross-functionally to deliver data-driven insights and innovative solutions. This contract-based position requires exceptional technical expertise and the ability to translate complex analyses into actionable business outcomes.

Required Qualifications

• Extensive years of related professional experience.
• Hands-on expertise in analytics and data science including classification/regression, unsupervised learning, time-series/sequence models, NLP, explainability methods, and deep learning.
• Solid proficiency in tools such as Python, R, Spark, and SQL.
• Experience implementing predictive algorithms and performing statistical analysis/inference using both structured and unstructured data.
• Ability to clearly communicate highly technical results to diverse audiences.
• Proven experience translating complex analyses into actionable insights and breaking down unclear problems into data-driven hypotheses.
• Proficiency in Python for end-to-end data workflows (strongly preferred).
• Experience working with large language models (LLMs).
• Familiarity with CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code practices, including Docker.
• Experience authoring and maintaining code repositories on Github.
• Exposure to Node.js and React development.
• Familiarity with Terraform and strong database skills.
• Experience with AWS services including AWS Bedrock (strongly preferred), DynamoDB, S3, and Fargate/serverless computing.
• Proven ability to work cross-functionally with business stakeholders and deliver solutions aligned with strategic goals.
• Ability to craft compelling narratives using visuals and clear written summaries.
• Prior experience in healthcare, preferably in healthcare sales.
• Must have a high school diploma (or equivalency) and legal authorization to work in the U.S.
