Position Overview

7971 – Phoenix CEC – 1625 W. Fountainhead Parkway, Tempe, Arizona, 85282. CarMax, the way your career should be! As a Customer Service Consultant, you will be the vital link between a customer's at-home and in-store CarMax experience by providing a simple, seamless process. You will respond to sales leads and inquiries, guiding customers through every step of their car buying journey while ensuring an iconic customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Connect with inbound customers online and over the phone to understand their needs.
  • Use your knowledge of the CarMax inventory to guide customers toward the right vehicle.
  • Guide customers from online sales or appraisal to arranging finance applications and scheduling vehicle delivery.
  • Ensure a seamless transition from online to in-store purchasing for an unrivaled customer service experience.
  • Mentor colleagues as your skills and expertise grow.
  • Achieve sales targets while maintaining high transparency and integrity.
  • Acquire the Automotive Salespersons License in specific states; this may involve testing and travel as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience in sales and customer service, preferably in retail.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced sales environment.
  • Excellent listening skills and a strong customer focus.
  • High level of self-motivation to achieve performance goals.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Capability to quickly learn and master new technologies with strong computer skills.
  • Flexible availability including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Willingness to accept shift changes twice per year as business needs require.
  • Must meet minimum technology requirements and reside within 60 miles (or within 1 hour) of the Customer Experience Center (CEC) location.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Compensation: Hourly rate of $18.00 – $26.70 with the opportunity for performance-based sales incentives after training.
  • Benefits: Eligible CarMax Associates receive paid sick, vacation, and holiday time.
  • For hourly or commission/incentive eligible associates: Up to 48 hours of sick time per year (accrued per pay period) and between 80 and 200 hours of vacation time per year (after a 90-day waiting period, depending on continuous service).
  • Eight hours of pay for each of 6 scheduled holidays per year plus 1 floating holiday. Eligible for Holiday Premium Pay if working on a scheduled holiday due to business needs.
  • For full-time salaried associates: Paid time away without a specified limit for various needs (sick, vacation, bereavement, jury duty, etc.) subject to manager approval.
