Virtual Legal Assistant/Paralegal - Civil Litigation and Probate Litigation

Position Overview

Virtual Legal Assistant/Paralegal – Civil Litigation and Probate Litigation. This position is with a reputable law firm based in Torrance, CA that offers both full-time and part-time opportunities. The role supports attorneys by handling tasks such as written discovery, civil complaint drafting, general document and letter drafting, motions, trial preparation, filing procedures, and various administrative computer tasks. Applicants must be familiar with California civil legal requirements even if they currently reside outside California.

Compensation: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour

Work Location: Virtual (with a firm presence in Torrance, CA)

Key Responsibilities

• Draft and prepare legal documents including civil complaints, motions, and trial materials.
• Manage written discovery and general document/letter drafting for civil litigation matters.
• Assist in trial preparation and implement filing procedures.
• Utilize excellent computer skills with Microsoft Word/Word Perfect, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and other legal software.
• Provide support to attorneys and maintain effective communication with clients.

Required Qualifications

• Prior experience working on California civil legal matters with a focus on litigation support.
• Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Word/Word Perfect, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
• Minimum typing speed of 60 words per minute.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Proven ability to work independently and take initiative.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with probate litigation and civil litigation preparation.
• Familiarity with client management software.
• Spanish speaking skills are highly desirable.
• BA or BS degree and/or equivalent professional-level experience.
• Previous experience assisting attorneys.
