- Administer infusion therapy treatments to patients in accordance with physician orders in our outpatient infusion center.
Job Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm
And approx. every 4th Weekend (Sat & Sun) & at least 2 Holiday shifts per year. (*May be asked to come in early or stay late based on patient/practice needs).
Job Location: Shifts will be scheduled between our Tampa Office (4720 N. Habana Ave. Tampa, FL 33614 and Wesley Chapel Office (5504 Gateway Blvd. Wesley Chapel Fl, 33544), as needed.
Immediate Supervisor Title: Senior Infusion Nurse and/or Practice Administrator
Job Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervision of other RNs, LPNs, and/or medical assistants, depending on departmental organization.
General Summary: A nonexempt position responsible for providing care to patients in our infusion center, including assessment, treatment/infusion, care planning, and medical care evaluation.
Responsibilities:
- Administer infusion therapy treatments to patients in accordance with physician orders
- Obtains patient consent for care and ensures patient confidentiality. Obtains and documents health history, information on chief complaint, vital signs, and health risk factors and assesses disease condition.
- Executes prescribed treatments and medical interventions, administers prescribed medications, and monitors and documents treatment progress and patient response.
- Refers to/consults with physicians, other health providers, and community resources to prevent/resolve problems or concerns.
- Reports test results following clinical protocols, alerting physicians immediately about “red flag” results.
- Documents patient assessment and intervention data using established medical record forms/automated systems and documentation practices.
- Participates in multidisciplinary teams to improve patient care processes and outcomes. Tracks quality assurance data and monitors for acute and chronic care management.
- Collects specimens for laboratory analysis.
- Adheres to infection control and safety guidelines, standards of care, federal/state laws and regulations, and confidentiality/HIPAA procedures.
- Insertion/maintenance of vascular access catheters.
- Ensures IV tubing is properly maintained as well as central venous access devices and is knowledgeable of potential drug complications.
- Responsible for all medication preparation in the Outpatient Infusion Center.
- Wound care.
- Monitor patients during infusion therapy to ensure safety and effectiveness of treatment
- Assess patient's condition and response to treatment, and make necessary adjustments to medication or treatment plan with coordination from the provider.
- Educate patients and their families on infusion therapy procedures, potential side effects, and self-care techniques
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to coordinate patient care and ensure optimal outcomes
- Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and timely
- Bill for Infusion charges in EHR
Experience:
- Minimum one year of professional nursing experience. Outpatient Clinic experience preferred.
Requirements:
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license: to work in Florida
- BLS certification: (ACLS certification preferred - Training Available)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability: to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention: to detail and ability to multitask

- Nursing processes; health care systems, structure, and functions; and community resources. Understanding of health care technology, equipment, and supplies. Familiarity with state law on nursing care, nurse practice guidelines, and clinic policies and procedures.
- Wellness/illness, growth and development, human behavior, psychosocial factors, and alternative health care treatments.
- Chart/medical record documentation requirements and federal/state laws related to release of health care information.
- Infectious disease management and control and safety standards.
- IDATB policies and procedures related to respective job functions.
Skills:
- Time management, problem solving, multitasking, prioritizing, and medical care coordination.
- Initiating appropriate crisis interventions and emergency response.
- Patient triage in person and on the phone.
Abilities:
- Analyze options and then counsel patients and families about choices and make referrals to other providers and resources.
- Engage clients and families in the development and implementation of a care plan.
- Read and interpret physicians’ orders and notes from other providers.
- Calculate and administer drug dosages and injections and measure results.
- Work effectively with diverse patient populations, physicians, other employees and external agencies.
Equipment Operated:
Standard nursing equipment and supplies including thermometer and syringes. May involve use of assistive devices such as walkers, wheelchairs, pulse oximetry units, nebulizer compressor, electrocardiogram machine, ultrasound machine, infusion pumps and oxygen tanks. Requires use of Electronic Health Records (EHR) system.
Work Environment:
Medical exam/treatment rooms and medical office. Environmental hazards may be unpredictable including exposure to communicable diseases and biohazards.
Mental/Physical Requirements:
Involves sitting, lifting and standing associated with a normal clinical environment.

Pay: $33.00 - $38.00 per hour
