Job Description
Position Overview
Join the American Medical Association as a Lead HR Business Partner in Chicago, IL (Hybrid). In this role, you will partner with business unit leaders to integrate and align HR strategies with organizational goals, providing consultative HR solutions while serving as both an employee advocate and a trusted advisor.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a subject matter expert/consultant to assigned business units.
- Design, develop, and implement medium to long-term HR strategies and equitable solutions to address client needs.
- Partner with business leaders to contribute to strategic planning, including workforce planning, talent reviews, and succession planning.
- Advise on enterprise programs such as performance management, compensation, talent management, engagement, and training & development.
- Drive organizational change through effective change management tools and continuous improvement in HR programs.
- Conduct objective investigations into discrimination, harassment, and retaliation issues while collaborating with the Office of General Counsel as needed.
- Handle ADA accommodations and proactively address employee relations issues by offering coaching and advice.
- Collaborate with fellow HR team members to deliver timely, comprehensive HR services across functions including Talent Acquisition, Organizational Development, and HRIS.
- Participate in or lead committees and resource groups to develop and administer HR policies and programs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Minimum 7+ years of HR Business Partner experience.
- Substantive knowledge of HR and business unit strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex employee relations matters and investigations.
- Strong consulting, interpersonal, and communication skills with a proven ability to influence senior leadership.
- In-depth knowledge of HR policies and processes (performance management, talent management, rewards, employee relations, and compensation).
- Solid understanding of HR laws and principles including ADA, FMLA, and PWFA.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work effectively through complex situations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree preferred.

- Compensation: $102,816 - $155,000, determined by candidate qualifications, business considerations, and geographical location.
