Position Overview

At Coinbase, our mission is to increase economic freedom in the world. Joining Coinbase’s Unit 0x – a specialized on‐chain investigations team – as an Onchain Data Analyst & Researcher means leading challenging inquiries into illicit activity and blockchain exploits while developing scalable methods to detect emerging threats. You will play a key role in safeguarding both Coinbase and the broader web3 community, working alongside high‐caliber professionals in an intense, mission‐driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth investigations into illicit activities, scams, on-chain exploits, and vulnerabilities using blockchain analytics and clustering techniques.
  • Analyze and document exploit methodologies, attack vectors, abuse patterns, and incident impacts to provide actionable intelligence.
  • Develop and automate scalable methods for detecting and understanding emerging threats – including building dashboards, writing queries, and supporting incident response.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to advise on evolving exploit tactics, risk landscapes, and mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor and research threat actors and emerging blockchain trends to stay ahead of illicit activity.
  • Respond to urgent, sensitive cases with discretion and professionalism, while supporting team members as needed.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Well-organized self-starter with the ability to learn and work autonomously.
  • Proven track record handling highly sensitive information.
  • Excellent writing, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Deep knowledge of blockchain ecosystems paired with an investigative mindset.
  • Strong SQL skills for on-chain analysis and familiarity with abuse vectors.
  • Ability to leverage AI to significantly enhance productivity.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in corporate OSINT analysis.
  • Familiarity with Dune Analytics, Flipside, and/or Chainbase.

  • Compensation: $144,500—$170,000 USD
