Position Overview
As an Engineer I for the Department of Transportation, you will be responsible for preparing and reviewing engineering plans, designs, specifications, and cost estimates in support of public infrastructure projects. This role is performed in an office setting under normal working conditions and requires minimal physical exertion. Compensation: $76,299.00 Annually. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review engineering plans, designs, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Oversee the work of drafting personnel, sub-professional engineers, and related staff.
- Conduct engineering investigations and prepare technical reports.
- Collaborate effectively with engineers, consultants, and developers.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; a master’s degree in engineering may be substituted for a Bachelor’s of Science degree in engineering.
- Licenses/Certificates: May require an Engineer-In-Training certificate from the State of Maryland, Engineering Technologist certification (NICET), current Professional Engineer licensure (or equivalent), and a valid Maryland Class C Non-Commercial driver's license (or equivalent) with eligibility for a Baltimore City driver’s permit.
- Knowledge & Skills: Understanding of engineering principles and practices, ability to prepare technical reports, conduct engineering investigations, and interpret City engineering standards, policies, technical requirements, and codes.
