The Design Engineer is responsible for due diligence investigations as well as preliminary design and engineering analyses of various retail, commercial, industrial, and residential site layouts. Key Responsibilities

  • Review municipal zoning and land development ordinances and applicable agency regulations to determine land development limitations for the property.
  • Prepare Site Investigation and Due Diligence Reports including ordinance reviews, utility service research, outside agency regulations, and site visits to establish comprehensive development guidelines.
  • Prepare Conceptual Site Plans.
  • Prepare preliminary Grading Plans and Design.
  • Design Stormwater Management and Stormwater Conveyance Systems, Utility Systems, and Soil Erosion and Sediment Control Design Plans.
  • Prepare construction cost estimates.
  • Coordinate with clients, consultants, and project teams for preparing comprehensive site plan applications.
  • Prepare technical reports including drainage, sanitary sewer, and site investigation reports.
  • Draft written correspondence to outside agencies, clients, and contractors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 0-4 years’ experience in Civil Site Engineering including residential, institutional, industrial, and/or commercial site design and permitting.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a personal and/or company vehicle.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD for production of site plan drawings.
  • Working knowledge of Truck and Turning & Modeling software.
  • Understanding of the planning and zoning process.
  • Knowledge of Hydrologic, Hydraulic, and Stormwater Design principles.
  • Strong design and drafting capabilities as well as grading and drainage design skills.
  • Experience dealing with regulatory agencies and review professionals.
  • Familiarity with using mapping websites for due diligence and site investigation purposes.
  • Proficient with the following design tools for site engineering:
    • AutoCAD Civil3D
    • Hydrology Software (e.g., Hydraflow, HydroCAD, PondPack)
    • Hydraulic Software (e.g., Hydraflow, StormCAD, Storm and Sanitary Analysis)
    • HEC-RAS
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Project.
  • Experience with Bluebeam Revu and/or Adobe for design document markups.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Independent and critical thinker with the ability to work both autonomously and in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant Internship experience.
  • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification.

Salary Range: $72k - $90k
