Job Description

Position Overview

The Marketing & Digital Media Coordinator at The Smoke Shop BBQ brings to life the brand vision set by owner Andy Husbands. This role is centered on executing the brand’s marketing strategy through digital media channels and storytelling that spotlights great BBQ and authentic Smoke Shop hospitality. Based in Boston - Fort Point/Seaport, you will work closely with leadership including Chef/Owner Andy Husbands and Director of Operations Bill Goodwin, ensuring robust consumer engagement and community connection.

Key Responsibilities

  • Core & Strategic
    • Produce and execute a focused, comprehensive Content Calendar encompassing social media, web, printed collateral, and event support.
    • Implement marketing and advertising campaigns as directed by the Owner.
    • Coordinate communications with key partners including graphic design, PR, Boston media, and third-party event managers.
    • Provide regular updates to the Executive Team and restaurant general managers on marketing initiatives.
    • Collaborate with Culinary, Operations, Beverage & Events teams to uphold and promote the Smoke Shop brand.
    • Collect and present analytics to identify growth areas and improvement opportunities.
    • Leverage analytics to boost engagement across social media and email marketing.
    • Attend internal, external, and strategic events to represent overall marketing efforts.
  • Email Marketing
    • Maintain and expand the consumer email database through various in-house and third-party channels.
    • Develop and schedule content strategies for email marketing campaigns.
    • Design, write, and disseminate e-newsletters using engaging photography and copy.
    • Review e-newsletter analytics to pinpoint areas for growth.
  • Social Media Marketing
    • Create and manage social media posts aligned with the content calendar and marketing goals.
    • Engage with followers by responding to comments and interacting with like-minded brands.
    • Conceptualize creative promotional ideas supporting major sales initiatives.
    • Keep restaurant listings (Google Business, Yelp) updated with events, hours, and promotions.
    • Handle incoming guest inquiries and donation requests across all channels including social media and live chat.
  • Digital Marketing
    • Execute digital marketing strategies including advertising and sponsored posts across platforms like Google Ads and Facebook/Instagram.
  • Events
    • Collaborate with the Catering & Events Manager, Owner, and Director of Operations to determine marketing needs for new and recurring in-house events.
    • Support ticket sales, promotional activities, event setup, and execution.
    • Design and produce promotional materials such as posters, flyers, menus, and social media graphics.
    • Survey past event guests for feedback to drive future event improvements.
    • Integrate Smoke Shop Catering into the overall marketing and digital media strategy.
    • Assist during high-volume periods and key dates as a supporting team member.
    • Produce in-restaurant collateral including signage, postcards, and merchandise.
  • Website
    • Work with the website designer on updates and new concepts.
    • Maintain and update website content including menus, events, merchandise, and promotions.
    • Manage the online store: add new products, capture product photos, and handle order fulfillment.
  • Administrative
    • Provide additional support to the owner, including calendar management and tracking design and programming projects.
  • Menus
    • Update all restaurant menus including in-house food/beverage, allergy, kids’, takeout, catering, website, and third-party delivery service menus.

Required Qualifications
