Position Overview
Join the World's Elite Air Power as an Air Force Civilian. The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is seeking an experienced IT Cybersecurity Specialist (INFOSEC) to serve in a full‑time role at Joint Base San Antonio‑Lackland, San Antonio, Texas. This position supports war‑winning capabilities for the United States Air Force by applying cross‑discipline expertise in engineering, mathematics, and advanced technology to integrate and sustain complex electronic systems. Salary is $131,437 – $179,633 based on experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide scientific and technical expertise in planning, research, design, development, testing, evaluation, integration, acquisition, dissemination, sustainment, and modification of complex electronic systems.
- Apply advanced cybersecurity and IT skills using tools and technologies such as Security+, Power Shell, Python, Bash, ACAS, Nessus, Nmap, AWS, Azure, ELK/Elastic Stack, Linux, Windows, Arkime, and Endgame.
- Support the organization’s mission objectives by ensuring robust security procedures, threat hunting, and defense of industrial control systems (ICS/SCADA).
- Collaborate across disciplines including Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Operations Research Analysis, and Computer Science to solve complex problems.
Required Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) security clearance.
- Drug testing is required for both initial and periodic testing.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related quantitative field; a master’s degree in a technical area is highly desired.
- Valid driver’s license with the ability to drive a motor vehicle.
- Deep understanding of engineering, mathematics, statistical analysis, modeling/simulation, and scientific methods.
- Proven professional ability in applying security procedures and analytical techniques to resolve complex issues.
- Extensive hands‑on experience with cybersecurity tools and practices, including Security+, Power Shell, Python, Bash, ACAS, Nessus, Nmap, AWS, Azure, ELK/Elastic Stack, Linux, Windows, Arkime, Endgame, Industrial Control Systems (ICS)/SCADA, Threat Hunting, Data Science, CISSP, and MECM.
