The Food Recovery Coordinator is responsible for managing a defined route of vendor and beneficiary partners across the Greater Boston, MetroWest, Worcester, or Hampden County regions. In this role, you will be the face of our organization—driving a medium-duty box truck and ensuring food is collected, inspected, loaded, and delivered to non-profit beneficiaries on the same day it is acquired, all while maintaining data integrity and fostering strong community relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a defined route of vendor and beneficiary partners, serving as the primary representative of Spoonfuls.
  • Arrive to work in uniform and drive a medium-duty 10-12 foot NPR box truck (non-CDL) while following all safety protocols and DOT/Massachusetts regulations.
  • Perform food recovery activities—including culling, loading, organizing, and delivering perishable and nonperishable products on the same day of acquisition.
  • Maintain accurate records in the inventory system and Salesforce, and participate in regular route and inventory audits.
  • Build and sustain positive relationships with vendors and beneficiary partners, and communicate any issues promptly.
  • Adhere to vehicle maintenance protocols, complete required DVIR reports, and ensure safe operating practices at all times.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Driver’s License with at least 3 years of licensed driving experience; a clean motor vehicle report for the past 3 years.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a current DOT physical card and a safe food handling license (ServSafe) as required by state and federal regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ years of commercial box truck driving experience.
  • Previous customer service and/or grocery retail experience.
  • Experience in food handling and recovery operations.
  • Comfortable using computerized data input technology and Salesforce.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively with diverse groups.

Benefits & Perks

  • Health, Vision & Dental Insurance: Provided through our PEO partner.
  • Paid Time Off: Generous PTO along with holiday closures.
  • Opportunities to work in a mission-driven organization making a positive impact.
