Job Description

Position Overview

Support NASA missions at the Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI), a multi-mission science and flight operations center for NASA’s flagship observatories. This junior level Systems Engineer role within the Systems Engineering, Integration & Test and Flight Operations (SEITO) Division focuses on ground segment integration and testing for the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope. You will work with multidisciplinary teams on subsystem test case implementation, requirements management, and interface control documentation following the NASA Systems Engineering Handbook. This position supports a hybrid work model (onsite and remote) and requires candidates to be located in or willing to relocate to the local market (MD, DE, VA, PA, DC & WV). The salary range is between $80k - $95k and Compensation is commensurate with education and experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support all phases of the Systems Development Lifecycle (SDLC) including system design, product realization, and technical management.
  • Assist in ground segment integration and testing activities for the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope.
  • Develop and execute subsystem test cases, manage requirements, and prepare interface control documentation.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering and science teams to strengthen engineering processes across NASA missions including HST and JWST.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience with complex operations requirements and problem-solving (scheduling experience is a plus).
  • Knowledge of current systems engineering methodologies and tools.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and “big picture” problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, schedule, and manage multiple demands.
  • US Citizenship or Permanent Residence to meet ITAR requirements.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field.
