Position Overview

A pioneering and well-funded AI startup is building the first generation of autonomous engineering agents. They are seeking a brilliant ML Engineer with a background in 3D perception to build the "eyes" for their AI systems. In this foundational role, you will create core models that enable intelligent engineering decisions by interpreting complex 3D geometry, understanding physical structures, and applying advanced machine learning techniques. Key Responsibilities

  • Design and build core perception models that extract structure, semantics, and key features from 3D data (CAD, meshes, point clouds).
  • Create novel geometric representations and embeddings for AI agents to reason about physics and design constraints.
  • Engineer multimodal pipelines that fuse 3D data with other inputs (e.g., text from language models) to provide rich context.
  • Manage the end-to-end ML lifecycle from data curation to production inference.
  • Collaborate closely with agent, frontend, and infrastructure teams to integrate perception systems into the core product.
  • Research and implement state-of-the-art techniques in geometric deep learning, 3D transformers, and diffusion models.

Required Qualifications

  • Professional experience in 3D perception or scene understanding, preferably in robotics, autonomous vehicles, or AR/VR.
  • Strong ML engineering skills with proficiency in Python and PyTorch (or similar deep learning frameworks).
  • Deep familiarity with 3D data formats (e.g., meshes, point clouds, SDFs, CAD files).
  • Expertise in neural network architectures for geometric data (e.g., PointNet++, 3D CNNs, GNNs, NeRFs).
  • Proven experience in building and deploying ML models from data curation to production inference.
