Job Description

Position Overview

Our client is seeking a highly qualified and motivated Senior Financial Accountant to join their esteemed finance department in Seattle, Washington, US. This office-based role is pivotal in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company's financial records, preparing financial statements, and assisting with audits. The candidate will manage complex reporting tasks including general ledger management, account reconciliations, month-end and year-end close processes, variance analysis and more. The position requires a strategic thinker with excellent analytical skills, strong communication abilities, and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of financial integrity, along with full-time, in-person attendance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the general ledger and ensure accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions.
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Perform detailed account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
  • Lead and coordinate the month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Analyze financial variances and provide explanations for significant fluctuations.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
  • Support external auditors during financial statement audits and provide necessary documentation.
  • Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in accounting operations.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements and accounting standards.
  • Prepare journal entries, accruals, and other accounting adjustments.
  • Assist with tax preparation and compliance activities.
  • Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
  • Respond to financial inquiries from management and other departments.
  • Stay current with changes in accounting standards and regulations.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) designation is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in financial accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks Enterprise) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience with month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong understanding of internal controls and audit procedures.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in relevant industries (e.g., software, manufacturing) is a plus.
  • Public accounting experience is highly desirable.
