Our client, a leading engineering firm specializing in energy infrastructure, is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join their team in Columbus, Ohio, US. This role is integral to designing, developing, and implementing advanced power systems for utility and industrial clients. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of power system analysis, protection, and control, coupled with strong project management skills.
Your Responsibilities
- Perform detailed electrical design for power systems, including substations, transmission lines, and distribution networks.
- Conduct power flow, short circuit, stability, and protection studies using industry-standard software.
- Develop protection and relaying schemes to ensure the safe and reliable operation of power systems.
- Design control systems and SCADA integration for power infrastructure.
- Prepare technical specifications, drawings, and reports for project execution.
- Collaborate with project managers, clients, and other engineering disciplines to ensure project objectives are met.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Oversee the commissioning and testing of electrical equipment and systems.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant industry codes, standards (e.g., IEEE, NESC), and client requirements.
- Troubleshoot electrical system issues and propose effective solutions.
- Stay current with advancements in power system technologies and methodologies.
- Participate in proposal development and client presentations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree: in Electrical Engineering.
- Master's degree: with a focus on Power Systems is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in electrical engineering, with a specialization in power systems.
- Proficiency: in power system analysis software (e.g., ETAP, PSS/E, PSCAD).
- Understanding: of power system fundamentals, including generation, transmission, and distribution.
- Experience: with protection and control systems design and application.
- Familiarity: with NERC/FERC regulations and compliance is a plus.
- Skills: Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Communication skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information.
- License: Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly desirable.
- Project management: Proven ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively in a team environment in Columbus, Ohio, US.
- Experience: with AutoCAD or other relevant design software.
