About NewsBreak:NewsBreak is redefining the way users interact with local news and their communities by bridging local users, content creators, and businesses. Since 2015, we have grown into the nation’s premier local news app, delivering essential, locally sourced information. This role ishybridwith 4 days onsite in our Mountain View, California office.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in architecting, designing, and implementing features at a massive scale with data-driven iteration.
- Define and implement content processing, management, and delivery for both user-generated and platform-generated content.
- Improve recommendation user experience by optimizing distributed backend services with a focus on scale and reliability.
- Collaborate with Machine Learning Experts to build infrastructures supporting state-of-the-art systems including Ranking, NLP, and Computer Vision.
Required Qualifications
- BS with 2+ years of working experience or MS in Computer Science or related fields.
- Experience with software development processes including source control, bug tracking, and design documentation.
- Proficiency in Java/C++, object-oriented programming, and component-oriented architecture.
Preferred Qualifications
- Industry experience in Recommendation, Search, Online Advertising, or Content Management Systems.
- Experience in building large-scale distributed backend systems.
- Systematic, data-driven problem-solving skills paired with effective communication and a strong sense of drive.

Compensation:The US base salary range for this full-time position is $120,000—$145,000 USD. Pay may vary based on job-related skills, level, experience, geographic location, and relevant education or training.
