Position Overview

Our client is seeking an innovative and experienced Lead UI/UX Designer to shape the future of digital products from their Boston, Massachusetts, US office. This pivotal role demands a blend of creative vision, user empathy, and technical proficiency to design intuitive, engaging, and aesthetically pleasing user interfaces and experiences. You will lead a team of designers, mentor junior talent, and collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to translate complex user needs and business requirements into seamless digital solutions. Additionally, you will be instrumental in defining design systems, conducting user research, and advocating for the user throughout the product development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design vision and strategy for digital products, ensuring consistency and excellence across platforms.
  • Develop user personas, journey maps, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups.
  • Conduct user research, usability testing, and analyze feedback to inform design decisions.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive design systems, style guides, and UI kits.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product, engineering, marketing) to define product requirements and deliver exceptional user experiences.
  • Mentor and guide junior UI/UX designers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
  • Present design concepts and rationale to stakeholders, effectively communicating design solutions.
  • Stay abreast of the latest UI/UX trends, technologies, and best practices.
  • Champion user-centered design principles throughout the organization.
  • Optimize existing user interfaces for improved usability, accessibility, and engagement.
  • Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality assets.
  • Contribute to the strategic planning and roadmap development for product design initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in UI/UX design, with at least 2 years in a leadership or senior role.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in user-centered design, interaction design, and visual design across web and mobile platforms.
  • Proficiency in design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, InVision, or similar.
  • Experience conducting user research, usability testing, and synthesizing findings.
  • Solid understanding of front-end development principles and how design translates to code.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience leading design teams and mentoring junior designers.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative hybrid work environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a keen eye for detail.
