Job Description
Position Overview
The Ambulatory RN 2 identifies patterns of patient responses and uses past experiences to implement solutions for current situations. This per diem role is located in Chicago, Illinois at Rush University Medical Center within the Home Infusion Solutions department. The work schedule is 8 hours a day (8:00 AM – 4:00 PM) with 0-40 hours per pay period. The role exemplifies the Rush mission, vision, and values and collaborates closely with the healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish a caring, therapeutic relationship with patients and families through effective communication.
- Implement individualized care plans that incorporate cultural, spiritual, educational, and psychosocial needs.
- Maintain positive, professional relationships with all members of the healthcare team through collaboration and mutual support.
- Utilize evidence-based ambulatory care nursing interventions during clinical visits, telephone encounters, and electronic communications.
- Participate in quality initiatives, research, and the development of care protocols to improve patient outcomes.
- Ensure safe and effective administration of medications and the use of medical devices.
- Provide education to patients, families, staff, and students as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Current State of Illinois Registered Nurse licensure.
- 3+ years of nursing experience.
- Earned nursing degree at the baccalaureate level or higher.
- Current CPR certification.
- Ability to interact effectively with others in difficult situations.
- Per diem position with hours set approximately 2 weeks in advance (0-40 hours per pay period).
- For transfers from other Rush entities (Ambulatory Clinical Ladder – Registered Nurse Level RN2-Amb), an earned nursing degree at the baccalaureate level or higher is required prior to transfer.
Preferred Qualifications
- Outpatient clinic experience with strong telephone triage skills.
- National certification.
