Job Description

Position Overview

Meyer Jabara Hotels has distinguished itself as an employer of choice by attracting innovative and talented professionals. As a Maintenance Engineer with a NON-EXEMPT status reporting to the Area Chief Engineer, you will be instrumental in ensuring that guest rooms and property areas are maintained in pristine condition.

The main function of this role is to perform skilled maintenance and repair duties (HVAC, electrical, painting touch-ups, plumbing, etc.) while approaching customer and vendor interactions in a friendly, service-oriented manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Approach all encounters with guests and colleagues with outstanding service and professionalism.
  • Maintain regular attendance and adhere to the schedule to meet hotel needs.
  • Perform a variety of repair and maintenance tasks including HVAC repairs (filter changes, cleaning coils, replacing blower motors, preventive maintenance, and compressor replacement).
  • Conduct plumbing repairs such as unclogging drains and replacing washers, cartridges, and fittings.
  • Repair electrical components including replacing light switches, receptacles, and bulbs, and set up TV/cable boxes as needed.
  • Oversee maintenance of guest rooms, public spaces, mechanical areas, lights and grounds, and pool/spa facilities.
  • Maintain accurate repair and preventive maintenance records including boiler, PM, and emergency logs.
  • Handle dangerous chemicals safely, manage inventory programs, and work independently while directing other engineering associates when required.
  • Collaborate with contractors and keep supervisors informed of issues or challenges.

Required Qualifications

  • 1 to 2 years of practical experience in one or more technical trades (HVAC, Refrigeration, Plumbing, Electrical, etc.) and any required licenses.
  • Ability to work with diverse equipment (computers, two-way radios, maintenance tools) in variable temperatures, noise levels, and environments.
  • Physical capability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, climb stairs, stand for long periods, bend, and perform heavy work reliably.
  • Strong oral and written English comprehension along with proven problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Trade school or college coursework in a related field.
  • Previous customer service and hotel experience.
  • Additional certifications or training in technical trades such as HVAC, Refrigeration, Plumbing, or Electrical work.
