Job Description
Position Overview
The Sales department is responsible for increasing product sales within an assigned region to achieve company objectives.
The Business Development Manager is responsible for mentoring Branch-based Outside Sales Representatives to enhance product sales and customer service, maximize market penetration, and improve margin potential. This role develops and retains an effective Commercial/Retail/Builder sales force capable of driving company growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Develops and implements specialized or targeted sales strategies.
- Coaches and directs highly qualified Commercial/Retail/Builder Sales Representatives.
- Trains Sales Representatives on presentation skills, product knowledge, internal procedures, buying group programs, builder programs, and Emser promotions.
- Develops business relationships with key Commercial/Retailers/Builders within the assigned region.
- Defines goals and objectives and communicates them regularly; measures performance against these objectives.
- Collaborates with Branch Managers and Outside Sales Representatives to achieve mutual goals within established budgets.
- Performs other assigned duties as required to support Corporate and Regional Objectives.
- Partners and communicates effectively with National Account Managers, Directors, and Regional Business Partners.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
- Extensive working knowledge of Commercial/Retail/Builder sales.
- Five plus years of related sales management experience.
- Proven experience in leading and directing teams and fostering teamwork.
- Ability to build collaborative relationships and thrive in a competitive, dynamic sales environment.
- Highly organized with a history of servicing multiple accounts and consistently exceeding sales goals.
- Strong ability to work independently while implementing company-defined sales strategies.
- Experience in administering established policies and procedures with insight into budgeting, strategic planning, and procedural change.
- Expertise in influential and collaborative sales techniques along with strong analytical skills to identify opportunities.
- Driven to meet sales targets and excel through variable compensation programs that reward exceeding plan budgets.
- Proactive in addressing customer questions and concerns with effective resolution strategies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Willingness to travel over 50% of the time.
