Position Overview
The Director of Consumer Insights is responsible for owning and advancing strategy for Puig North America, combining strategic vision with hands‐on execution to drive business growth through deep consumer understanding. Acting as a commercial partner to Marketing, Retail, Sales, and Global HQ, this role delivers actionable insights that shape go‐to‐market strategies, innovation, media investment, and demand planning while translating complex data into clear, ROI-focused narratives for executive decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and evolve the consumer insights strategy for North America, aligning with Puig’s commercial goals and brand positioning across all portfolios.
- Act as a business strategist by identifying growth opportunities, diagnosing performance gaps, and shaping commercial strategies rooted in consumer understanding.
- Deliver clarity on macroeconomic shifts and consumer trends to guide strategic decision-making.
- Track evolving consumer cohorts and retailer landscapes (e.g., Department Stores, Beauty Specialists) and socialize actionable insights to deepen brand understanding.
- Manage consumer research communities and field feedback loops to inform innovation, retail strategy, and local category trend identification.
- Drive innovation through insight-led storytelling that influences senior leadership and inspires commercial action.
- Translate complex data into clear, ROI-focused narratives tied to KPIs and financial impact while leveraging global and local data to deliver dynamic insight reporting.
- Guide commercial strategies through marketplace, competitor, and brand performance analysis and be the voice of the consumer in commercial forums.
- Partner with Marketing, Retail, and Sales to inform go-to-market plans, pricing, promotions, and innovation pipelines, ensuring strategic consistency with Global HQ.
- Embed insights into forecasting, demand planning, and product development to drive topline and bottom-line growth, working closely with Data Science and Analytics teams for enhanced segmentation and targeting.
- Support media planning through marketing mix insights and lead evaluations that provide strategic, growth-oriented recommendations.
- Integrate third-party data and category intelligence to sharpen market positioning; lead the migration of Circana reporting to Power BI and oversee the Circana partnership to ensure data integrity and adoption.
- Upgrade social listening into agile, action-oriented dashboards and develop innovative visualization tools to identify market opportunities.
- Build and lead a high-performing insights team with strong business acumen and accountability for results.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in Consumer Insights or Strategic Research, ideally in beauty.
- Proven success in using insights to drive revenue growth, optimize marketing spend, and influence portfolio strategy.
- Deep experience partnering with senior leaders on business-critical initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to connect insights to KPIs—from conversion and retention to category performance and ROI.
- Strong analytical capabilities with proficiency in tools such as Excel, Tableau, Power-BI and syndicated platforms (e.g., Circana, Nielsen, Euromonitor).
- Skilled in leveraging both qualitative and quantitative research to uncover demand spaces, whitespace opportunities, and pricing sensitivities.
- A confident communicator and compelling storyteller who simplifies complexity, influences stakeholders, and drives strategic alignment.
- Entrepreneurial and proactive, with the ability to anticipate business needs and deliver insights that unlock competitive advantage and commercial value.
Benefits & Perks
- Base Salary: $170,000.00 - $190,000.00 (in accordance with New York State’s salary transparency law).
