Job Description

Position Overview

Doctors Hospital of Laredo in Laredo, TX—a 183-bed acute care facility—seeks a Cardiovascular Services Director. This leadership role is responsible for the overall administration of Cardiology Services, including clinical operations, financial management, regulatory compliance, patient satisfaction, and strategic growth in alignment with the hospital’s mission, vision, and values.

Key Responsibilities

  • Directs the staff and programs of cardiovascular procedural areas, including Chest Pain, while collaborating with ED, radiology, surgical services, cardiac rehab, and community outreach.
  • Guides staff in implementing current evidence-based clinical practices and maintaining associated competencies.
  • Monitors growth and volume metrics for both inpatient and outpatient services.
  • Oversees operational efficiency including staff management, room utilization, supply management, and pre- and post-recovery processes.
  • Directs staff productivity and allocates resources cost-effectively while fostering a positive, safety-centered team atmosphere.
  • Ensures adherence to all hospital and personnel policies and actively participates or leads hospital committees and work groups.
  • Oversees cardiac and stroke registry programs and drives process improvements with documented outcomes.
  • Maintains regulatory compliance with The Joint Commission, state health agencies, and other accrediting bodies.
  • Manages departmental fiscal goals by implementing value-added programs and services to enhance customer (patients, families, employees, and physicians) satisfaction.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of progressive management experience in an Operating Room and/or Cath Lab setting with at least 5 years of cardiovascular experience in a hospital. Three (3) years of senior leadership experience with Cardiology in a tertiary facility is required.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint; familiarity with Access and Project Management software is desired.
  • License/Certification: Current RN license or ARRT, with current BLS and ACLS certifications.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and thorough knowledge of clinical equipment, procedures, and standards (e.g., American College of Cardiology Registries/Guidelines, Joint Commission standards).
