Position Overview
Are you an experienced Clinical Lab Professional? Labcorp is seeking a Clinical Lab Technician to join the Consumer Genetics Department in San Diego, CA. In this role, you will work in a fast-paced, customer-focused, and challenging environment as part of our mission: “Improving Health, Improving Lives”. Compensation: Pay Range: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour (plus 2nd shift differential). Work Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday, 2:00pm - 10:30pm.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, prioritize, and prepare all clinical samples while ensuring viability and sample integrity throughout the testing process.
- Prepare and label tubes according to established protocols.
- Prepare clinical samples for testing and identify sample-related issues.
- Adhere to quality control guidelines to ensure the integrity of laboratory specimens.
- Maintain inventory and organization of specimen samples in the freezer.
- Accession samples and enter data into the laboratory information system.
- Assist in coordinating documentation.
- Monitor and maintain consumable inventory, including reagents and supplies for each laboratory workstation.
- Perform general laboratory, equipment, and benchtop clean-up.
- Prepare logs or other documents for routine testing or special assignments.
- Provide assistance to licensed CLS personnel during test protocol execution.
- Under the direction of a licensed CLS, dispense pre-made and prequalified reagents/controls using fixed volume measuring devices.
- Support daily laboratory maintenance and surface decontamination of equipment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
- At least 1 year of experience working in a clinical laboratory is highly preferred.
- Experience with molecular biology techniques is highly desired.
- Strong knowledge of general laboratory processes and medical terminology.
- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office.
- Ability to maintain production and quality standards in a clinical setting.
- Must be able to work with whole blood or blood by-products and adhere to safety policies and procedures.
- Capable of performing repetitive tasks throughout the day and passing a standardized color vision screen.
