Job Description

Position Overview

A registered nurse with ICU expertise is needed to provide critical care in a challenging and rewarding hospital environment. This contract opportunity offers a chance to practice and grow clinical skills in a Level 1 Trauma Center renowned for its comprehensive critical care services. Location: Situated in the bustling city of Chicago, IL, offering diverse cultural experiences, excellent dining options, and numerous recreational activities. Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) with every other weekend requirement and a guaranteed 36 hours per week. Orientation on the day shift during the first week is provided for onboarding and precepting, with mandatory floating between various ICU and potentially medical-surgical units as needed. Additional time off is granted up to 5 days (with no more than 2 consecutive), subject to holiday and weekend restrictions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in various intensive care units including Burn ICU, Cardiac Care Unit, Medical ICU, Surgical ICU, and Neuro ICU.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to implement individualized care plans.
  • Participate in floating assignments to support unit staffing needs.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience Required: Minimum 2 years of recent acute care experience in an ICU setting.
  • Qualifications: Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Cerner electronic charting system is preferred.
  • Local candidates within a 75-mile radius are preferred; pending licenses will not be accepted.
