Position Overview
To be eligible to enlist in the U.S. Navy, candidates must be between the ages of 18 and 34. At any given moment, hundreds of complex networked computer systems work in tandem to keep ships and submarines operating at their best. The specialized training in IT, network support, computer programming, web development, and information security opens the door to a variety of career opportunities. Roles include Information Systems Technician, Cryptologic Technician Networks, and Intelligence Specialist, each playing a critical part in mission readiness.
Key Responsibilities
- As an Information Systems Technician: Ensure networks and related systems are designed, operated properly, and promptly repaired to prevent mission disruption.
- As a Cryptologic Technician Networks: Execute offensive and defensive cyber operations using state-of-the-art technology to protect vital communication networks.
- As an Intelligence Specialist: Collect and analyze data—ranging from cultural insights to enemy movements—to create comprehensive intelligence briefings for Navy officials.
Required Qualifications
- U.S. citizen or equivalent
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Must meet age requirements (between 18 and 34 years old)
- General qualifications may vary based on prior military service or lack thereof

WORK ENVIRONMENT
These roles perform a variety of duties worldwide, including assignments at overseas and stateside shore commands, on surface ships, aircraft, and submarines, with responsibilities divided between assignments ashore and afloat.
