Job Description

Position Overview

Reporting to the Finance Administration Manager, this role supports a busy Finance office in the Department of Radiology at the University of Chicago. The position involves creating and managing departmental budgets, drafting financial models, and maintaining accurate records of spending and budgetary control measures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide effort reporting for individual faculty and staff.
  • Maintain the department grant portfolio database.
  • Assist with monthly grant reconciliations.
  • Audit and validate monthly departmental operating expenses.
  • Update and distribute faculty stipend reports.
  • Prepare budgets, create accounts, and work with the financial accounting system to allocate, authorize, monitor, and control expenses.
  • Communicate and train users on the procurement process and procedures.
  • Advise faculty, research staff, and administrators on policies and procedures for purchasing, internal requisitions, and reimbursements.
  • Assist with financial administration and reporting as necessary.
  • Prepare deposit reports and deliver unit deposits when needed.
  • Draft analyses and variance summaries comparing approved budgets to actual performance, making recommendations for excess or deficient funds.
  • Inform managers of the status and availability of funds in various accounts.
  • Perform other related work as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • College or university degree in a related field.
  • Less than 2 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, accounting, or a related field.
  • Experience in a university, clinical, or not-for-profit organization.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, financial computing, and database software applications.
  • Familiarity with University Financial Systems such as FAS, Business Objects, BuySite, GEMS, ACCTS, Onbase, and ePayment.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with high attention to detail and confidentiality.

Benefits & Perks

  • Compensation: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00
