In this role as Data Engineer I, you will design, build, and maintain data systems and pipelines for optimal analytics and visualization. This hybrid opportunity is available in Atlanta, GA; Portland, ME; or Chattanooga, TN.
Key Responsibilities
- Employ a variety of languages and tools to develop, construct, test, and maintain data pipelines.
- Integrate data from diverse sources including DB2, SQL Server, Web API, and Teradata.
- Apply validation, aggregation, and reconciliation techniques to create a robust data framework.
- Collaborate with data scientists and business partners to understand problems and tailor data structures accordingly.
- Develop data assets that meet scalability, extensibility, performance, and maintainability requirements.
- Contribute to the evolution of enterprise data architecture using current and emerging data frameworks.
- Prepare results for interpretation and visualization, and communicate insights to management.
- Support integration of solutions within existing business processes through automation.
- Provide guidance and support to junior Data Engineer peers.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field is required.
- Proficiency in an object-oriented programming language (e.g., Java/Scala, Python) with exposure to DevOps practices (CI/CD, automation).
- Solid understanding of data architecture principles for both on-premise and Cloud platforms.
- Ability to develop and troubleshoot complex SQL queries and perform logical data modeling.
- Strong communication skills with experience collaborating with senior management.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a quantitative field.
- 2 years of professional experience or equivalent relevant work experience.
- Experience in data extraction, transformation, and load processes.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities and mentoring skills.
- Entrepreneurial self-starter with a results-oriented mindset and a passion for lifelong learning.
